FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CEMI brochureCenter for Electric Marine Innovation Receives First-Ever Boat Donation

The Center for Electric Marine Innovation (CEMI) is excited to announce the donation of a beautifully restored Albin 27 along with an electric propulsion system from a generous anonymous donor. This marks the organization’s first-ever boat donation and represents a major milestone in advancing clean-energy education and innovation on the water.

The donated vessel will become CEMI’s new MVP Pilot Boat, serving as both a hands-on teaching platform and a real-world demonstration of the power and potential of electric marine technology.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for our organization,” said the Center for Electric Marine Innovation. “The donation of this vessel allows us to showcase how clean-energy solutions can transform recreational and commercial boating while providing valuable educational opportunities for students, boat owners, and marine professionals.”

Once fully commissioned, the MVP Pilot Boat will be used for educational programs, demonstrations, community outreach events, and research initiatives focused on sustainable marine transportation. The vessel will help illustrate how electric propulsion can reduce emissions, lower operating costs, decrease noise pollution, and create a cleaner future for our waterways.

The Center extends its heartfelt gratitude to the anonymous donor whose generosity has made this project possible.

Support the Future of Clean Boating

While this donation provides an incredible foundation, additional funding is needed to complete the vessel’s outfitting, educational materials, testing, and ongoing program development.

Community members, marine enthusiasts, businesses, and supporters of clean energy are encouraged to contribute to this groundbreaking initiative. Every donation helps advance marine electrification, expand educational opportunities, and accelerate the adoption of sustainable technologies on the water.

Together, we can demonstrate that clean energy is not only possible—it is the future of boating.
